JUDGED COMPETITIONS
The Coastal Carolina Camera Club holds 5 competitions each year. These competitions are digital and are judged by trained Photographic Society of America (PSA) judges. In order to address levels of experience, we have two divisions: Division A for the more advanced members and Division B for more novice members. The rules for these competitions are included in the following link.
COMPETITION RULES, updated October 2023.pdf
The themes for the 2026 competitions are:
February - "Moment in Time" Moment in Time: Capturing a significant, unique, and candid instant, freezing action at a decisive moment. Potential examples include a lightning strike, a facial expression, a bird nabbing a fish, a child's first step, sports action (i.e., swinging a bat at a baseball, etc.) crashing waves, a migration of birds, etc.
April - "Birds of Prey" Birds of prey include the Eagle, Hawk, American Kestrel, Owl, Vulture Osprey, Falcon, in natural habitat (flying, hunting, feeding, nesting, etc.)
June - "Leading Lines" This topic refers to a technique of composition where the viewer of your photo's attention is drawn to lines that lead to the main subject of the image. A leading line paves an easy path for the eye to follow through different elements of a photo.
September - "Patterns and Repetition" Focuses on visual elements that recur—such as shapes, lines, colors, or textures—to create rhythm, structure, and harmony within an image.
November -"Trees" Single artistic tree or groups of trees in color or monochrome, something someone would want to display in a home or business.
Dates for submission of images for our intra-club competition will be announced closer to the meeting dates.
