LEARNING FROM THE MASTERS
We are planning a very unique program which requires a bit of preparation, but every
single member can participate. This is not a competition but a very interesting learning
experience. Not only will you learn from your work, but also from the work of other
fellow members.
The program is called “LEARNING FROM THE MASTERS”. For this program, we
have put together a group of nine American photographers which are to be used as an
inspiration.
You create your own photos based on the notion that you can improve your
photography and convey what you found appealing by studying images that you like
and using those desirable elements in your own images.
My suggestion would be that after you’ve selected a “Master”, you research his/her work
online. Remember that the entire exercise is for you to be “inspired” by their work and
to create your own.
The number of photos that you can submit is two (2). If you wish, you may choose two
Masters, but you will be restricted to one photo for each.
The images created by you will be used in a slide show presentation. We ask that when
ready to submit your photo(s),
1. you indicate which master’s style you’ve chosen, i.e.
Carmen Daughtry – inspired by Steve McCurry
and
2. that you write (a few lines) what was about that Master that inspired you.
You have plenty of time to work on this project and your final images are due to Carmen
Daughtry – carmen.daughtry@atmc.net by April 4, 2021.
