How to Creatively Photograph Flowers is Topic for September 11 Meeting
If you are looking for “Creative Ways to Photograph Flowers” then be sure to join the Coastal Carolina Camera Club (CCCC) on September 11th, 7pm Shallotte Presbyterian Church, 5070 Main St. in Shallotte. Our featured speaker is Mike Moats, who will focus on flower photography. There are many different styles and ways to create better flower images that will stand out. This will be an awe-inspiring session on creating unique and interesting flower images.
Mike will cover such topic as equipment, soft focus, everything in focus, filling the frame, water drop flower refraction, shooting through subjects, creating and working with backgrounds, natural backgrounds, finding character, flower backsides, backlighting, focus stacking, diffraction, and working with silk flowers and dead flowers. Q&A will follow the presentation. You don’t want to miss this informative session on flower photography.
Mike Moats is an international award-winning full-time pro macro photographer from Michigan. He is a Tamron Image Master, Vanguard Pro, and his articles and images have been published in many photo magazines for over 20 years. He has a Macro Photo Club online with over 2,900 members, from 29 countries. Mike teaches workshops and speaks at photo conferences throughout the United States.
Club meetings are monthly (except July) on the second Thursday of the month at 7pm in the Fellowship Hall of Shallotte Presbyterian Church, 5070 Main St. in Shallotte. Guests are always welcome. Membership is open to photographers of all skill levels. Meetings consist of informative programs on photographic techniques, topics, and software usage, member photo presentations and critiques, guest speakers and much more.
"Reflections" Competition Judged
The internal competition for June was on the theme of "Reflections". A judge from the Photographic Society of America reviewed the entries and selected six for top prizes. The club members entered under two categories, with Group A being the more experienced members.
Peter Riekstins image of "Reflecting Pines" was given the top award in Group A. Charlie Baggett's "Self Reflection" was awarded second place and Steve Wingfield's "Strasbourg Morning" was given a third place ribbon. In Group B, Dorothy Simone Foley's image of "Day Dreamer" was awarded the top honors, Brian Whitton's "Reflections" was awarded second place. John Medeiros's image of "Fender Bender" was named third place. Congrats to all who entered!
