Henry Rinne Showcases The Art of Architecture Photography

The art of capturing images of buildings and architecture was the topic for the August 14 meeting of the Coastal Carolina Camera Club.  Our speaker was Henry Rinne from the Raleigh area and his program, “Finding Drama in Architecture."  Henry answered the question “why do I photograph architecture?” A building’s dramatic form narrates a story, and he looks to reveal this narrative in the buildings he photographs. Some structures are simply monumental forms that must be monumentality (grandeur, size, significance) conveyed through the image. Other forms are mysterious. Their tales are present but elusive to our sensibilities. Something is hidden behind the facade, and contrast brings out the impact of the forms and their sensuality. Since structures are made to be used and provide context to people’s lives, Henry attempts to create an image that resonates with the narrative of human life. Henry shared his techniques for capturing dramatic architecture images.
